Waterbury Orientation Program

Orientation Program for New UConn Students

The Orientation Experience at the University of Connecticut consists of three parts.

  • PART 1:  Pre-Orientation –  Consists of a Task List of items in the online Orientation module that students must complete before they are able to schedule an on-campus Orientation session.
  • PART 2:  On-Campus Orientation Session – We are excited to bring the first-year new student Orientation program back to campus after having two summers of Orientation that were online. Orientation will occur in one-day sessions from Mid-May through Mid-July. During the one-day Orientation sessions new students will be put in Orientation groups led by members of the Orientation team who will escort them throughout the day. At Orientation new students will attend sessions on college life, and participate in student life discussions, meet with an academic advisor in their school/college to register for fall semester classes, tour campus, and meet other new students. The one-day Orientation sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. with check-in and end at approximately 4:30 p.m. New students must be prepared to stay the entire day in order to complete this mandatory university enrollment requirement.
  • PART 3:  Post-Orientation – Post Orientation will consist of another Task List of items that new students need to complete and/or review before classes begin on Monday, August 29. Post-Orientation items will be rolled out over the months of June, July, and August. As these tasks are rolled out students will be notified by email.

ORIENTATION IS MANDATORY:   All first-time degree-seeking students are required to complete the three parts of Orientation in order to fulfill the university’s mandatory Orientation enrollment requirement. Students who do not complete Orientation will lose their admission to the university.
